"ÄO" is a branding and marketing concept for a union of eight archaeology museums. The idea behind the sign "ÄO" is to mark archaeological sites on a map. The sign is made up of several elements, which are derived from icons of an atlas. The red dot marks the location, while the black circle lifts the place to the level of a big city. The flag means tourist attraction but also ruin.
Another important component is how dense the mesh of these "archaeological contact points" is. This is achieved not only through marking sites but also through interaction with users, who can mark interesting locations. This density makes Archeology ubiquitous. The distance between the museums is no longer an effort, but adds to the visit.
